Sloss Furnaces is tied to the people that built this extraordinary place, to the ones who came here to escape poverty, and to land that gave us an abundance of materials found few places on earth. Like so many of the things that really matter in our lives, Sloss Furnaces is a place rich with stories.
The stories continues with a transformational project that will reclaim historic ground and turn it into a dynamic civic landscape — a place where history, public life, community health, and creativity meet.
At the very core of our fundraising efforts lies the need for careful preservation of this historic gem. It has been nearly 50 years since these breathtaking structures were stabilized and restored. With your support, we can ensure that Sloss Furnaces remains a place of exploration and wonderment for many decades to come.
Sloss Furnaces is home to one of the largest metal arts programs in the world. Five full-time resident artists study, teach, create and develop the skills and experiences needed to succeed as future artists and educators. With your help, Sloss Furnaces can expand school programs, individual and group classes, and summer high school apprenticeships that may lead to a new career. Our goal is to foster a deeper appreciation of metal casting and fabrication, along with a better understanding of our industrial legacy.
There are restoration projects both large and small. We can always use an extra hand!
